Starting this August, Athlone Training Centre is delighted to run, for the first time, our new full-time day course in Barbering Studies. This full-time will be based in our own modern, fully equipped salon in our Garrycastle campus, which has ample parking, a free bus service, full canteen facilities & wheelchair access.

This VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering Studies qualification is aimed at learners who wish to focus the majority of their Study Programme on men’s hairdressing. Our VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering Studies incorporates both the required units to attain the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering Studies but also includes additional units which encourages our learners to develop a greater breadth of technical skills.

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques in creatively cutting men’s hair and the intricate specialist work of cutting facial hair.

Underpinning this qualification, you will develop a sound knowledge of monitoring health and safety whilst working in the barbering industry. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification, which would allow to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon service.

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering Studies is based on barbering National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s leading barbering association (British Barbering Association – BBA) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a senior men’s hairdresser and is also approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA).
