Longford and Westmeath Education and Board (LWETB) has appointed Liz Glennon as the new Enterprise Engagement Coordinator. The Enterprise Engagement Coordinator will liaise directly with employers in both counties on training and education needs, providing a single point of contact between LWETB Further Education and Training (FET) and employers

The introduction of the new Enterprise Engagement Coordinator role reflects LWETB’s continued commitment to the provision of market-led education and training courses in counties Longford and Westmeath.

LWETB works in partnership with employers providing apprenticeships, traineeships and a suite of full-time, part-time/evening and online courses at Levels 1 to 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications. 

Courses are provided across a wide range of sectors including Engineering, Office Administration, ICT, Logistics, Construction, Healthcare, Childcare, Horticulture, among others.

Sample courses include:  Basic to advanced computers, ECDL, MOS Word, Excel, Access, ILM Leadership and Management, Project Management, Effective Management of Remote Working, Healthcare Support, English Language for Speakers of other Languages and Welding, among others.

All courses are quality assured and subsidised under government initiatives like Skills to Advance and Skills for Work.

 Research demonstrates that investing in skills development leads to improvements in innovation, productivity, employee motivation and aids staff retention. Now, more than ever business needs to ensure that employees are equipped with strong skillsets to respond to challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and Brexit.

Skills to Advance and Skills for Work offers employers and employees, particularly those with less than third level education and working in low –skilled or vulnerable sectors, accessible training opportunities.  Employees in receipt of COVID-19 Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme are also eligible to apply.
